Based on one of America’s most notorious real-life scandals –in which Georgia Tann, director of a Memphis-based adoption organization, kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families all over the country. Lisa Wingates' riveting, wrenching, and ultimately uplifting tale, reminds us how even though the paths we take can lead to many places, the heart never forgets where we belong.

“Delighting in God’s Wisdom, A study on the Book of Proverbs”.
Wisdom. We need it. We want it - but often look for it in all the wrong places. Moment by moment our life circumstances dictate the need for wisdom. From simple everyday choices to the more complex and life changing; we need wisdom for successful decision-making. Where do we find this wisdom? Solomon will tell us in the book of Proverbs that wisdom begins with the fear of God and all wisdom in found in Him. The majority of Proverbs was written by Solomon, “the wisest man on earth. Proverbs is the “how to” for life and will lead you to the heart of God and His wisdom.

Ladies, do you ever find yourself worrying and anxious? Being overwhelmed by a task you face, a mountain to climb? I know I sure do. As I was listening to a teaching, I realized, that some circumstances I was relying more on myself than the Lord. That I try not to “burden” others with my concerns or circumstances. The Word of the Lord tells us we were not created to do life alone. Yes, in Genesis God created woman to be a suitable helper, an Ezer Kegnegdo, and the Lord created the family unit to support each other, however Yahweh brings other people into our lives to help us, maybe for a season or a lifelong friend. He gives us people to be our friends or co-workers. He gives us friends to also help us with things like moving or working on projects, to be an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on or to share laughter. He also gives us friends who will hold our arms up, spiritually, in prayer, when we cannot do it on our own. We all need people to come alongside us in prayer.
Let us look at Moses during the battle with Amalek, found in Exodus 17. When Moses withdrew from the battle and went up to the top of the hill, he held his hands up to the Lord in prayer and as a banner of encouragement to the fighting men, led by Joshua. While his arms were raised, they became tired in prayer and when he let them fall to his side, the battle turned in favor of the Amalekites. When he held his hands high, the favor was on the Isreal’s army. Moses hands were heavy, so he sat on a rock and Aaron and Hur held his arms up for them and Israel overtook the Amalekite army. This was so significant that the Lord told Moses to write on a scroll that the Lord is my Banner, or Jehovah Tsitkinu.
Intercessory prayer is what is being taught here. We need to allow others to “lift our hands” and we also need to do the same for others. The Lord is the one who gives us victory in our battles; He is our Banner. Joshua represents the physical battles, and Moses represents our spiritual battles. Both worlds are intertwined and cannot be separated; we are spirit and flesh. In following the Lord, we will ask for wisdom and help, allowing others to bless us as they are able, to lift us up in prayer and to bear one another’s burdens. We do not have to walk this walk alone. Call on the Lord, always, but call a friend for physical, emotional, and spiritual support. The Lord’s arm is always there for you and me, His ear is always attentive, so let us never to be shy about asking for help and emulate Christ in offering help, when we are able, so we can be strong in faith and fervent in prayer.
One day at a time
God Bless,
Renee Miller
