CALVARY KIDS NEWSLETTER - SEPTEMBER  2026 

SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:30-10:30 PreK through 6th grade 

***Children are encouraged to bring in their water bottles and Bibles*** 

***MOVE UP DAY IS LABOR DAY SUNDAY*** There are signs outside of each classroom. the signs are color coded for each grade as well as the teachers lanyards. 

*PreK -Kindergarten: (Meets upstairs in PreK Classroom)  

*Parents, please see the” Take Home Sheet” your children bring home after class.  These papers will show you what they have learned in Sunday School. You can help them throughout the week reinforce what they have learned about God’s Word and who He is and how much we are loved by Our Heavenly Father. 

 The children will start the month with a special Labor Day Bible Lesson. Then they will start a new series about Creation,” Finger Painting with God”.  

Painting with our fingers, we can make pictures of whatever we imagine. With just God’s voice He created the World, the sky, the animals, and ME!  

Memory Verse: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.” Genesis 1:1 

• Day, Night, Sky and Sea-God made the light, the day and night, the water and the sky. The first and Second Day, Genesis 1:18 
• Land and Plants, Sun Moon and Stars-God made the land and the sea and all the plants that grow in the ground. Gos also made everything we see in the sky -the sun, moon, stars and planets. The Third and Fourth Day, Genesis 1:9-19 
• Birds, Fish, Animals and Man- God made every creature that swims in the water and flies in the air. God made all the animals that live on the land and God made people. The Fifth and Sixth Day, Genesis 1:20-31 

*1st-4th Grades (Downstairs Classrooms) 

***PLEASE HAVE THE CHILDREN BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLES AND BIBLES*** 

*Parents, please look at the “Make it Stick” or” Take Home Papers” we send home with the children. It gives a better description of what was taught and how to reinforce what they have learned throughout the week, as a family.  We also send home a memory verse for them to learn.  We give them an incentive to remember scripture. 

The children will be starting the month with a special Labor Day Bible Lesson. The second Sunday of this month they will be starting a new series,” Code Breakers, Cracking the Kingdom Code”. Jesus spoke about The Kingdom of God, or the Kingdom of Heaven. These stories, called parables, remain a mystery for those who do not have “eyes to see and ears to hear”. The kids will examine the clues, break the code, and gain understanding of their role in the Kingdom of God. 

Memory Verse: “God you are my God. I seek you with all my heart”. Psalm 63:1a  

• The Search Is On: Matthew 18:10-14, The Parable of the Lost Sheep. In the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus tells us that we belong to Him. When we are lost, Jesus seeks us out, finds us and brings us home. Puzzle #1 will give us a clue for the next lesson.  
• Expect the Unexpected: Luke 15:11-32, The Parable of the Lost Son. In this parable, Jesus shows us that God’s love has no limits.  No matter what we’ve done, God welcomes us back to Him with open arms. Puzzle #2 Simple substitution from numbers from week 1 into letters.  
• Keep At It: Luke 18:1-8, The Parable of the Consistent Widow. Jesus shows us in this parable that we can come to God with whatever we need. Puzzle #3 Kids will shuffle the letters from lesson 2 to make a sentence. 

*5-6th Grades (Downstairs Classroom) 

The children in 5th and 6th grades are studying,” From the Beginning, an Exploration in Genesis”, Genesis Chapters 1-50 

*CALVARY KIDS WEDNESDAY NIGHTS: Ages 5 through 5th Grade Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 

Calvary Kids Wednesday Nights will start back to the regular school year schedule on September 9th, meeting every Wednesday.

Please bring your children to the Fellowship Hall and sign them in there. If the weather is permitting, we will have the children outside at the playground and the parents can bring the children there to sign them in. Notice will be given at the Fellowship Hall,50 on Calvary Kids Facebook Page and Shepherd of the Hills Community Page. The children will be brought back to the parents at the Fellowship Hall Foyer at 8:30. The kids will be learning through Bible stories, object lessons, games, videos and crafts, all reinforcing God’s Word. They will also have worship and prayer. 

* Have your children bring a friend or neighbor, we promise they will be welcomed with smiles and enthusiasm. We are always excited to see new faces and teach them about Jesus! 

 The Kids will explore the Fruit of the Spirit through creative, travel themed lessons. We will take them on an exciting journey filled with stories, fun, prayer and discovery. They will learn about expressing God’s love to others through caring actions and healthy attitudes, with the help of God’s Spirit. 

What is the Fruit of the Spirit?: Galatians 5:22-23a-God gives us the fruit of the Spirit to help us show others what His love looks like. 

• Love: 1 John 4:15-16 God wants us to love as He does. 
• Joy: Romans15:13 - Our hearts can overflow with joy, knowing Jesus gives us joy! 
• Peace, Philippians 4:6-7- We can replace worry with peace because God is on our side. 

** Parents, Adults over 18, Couples, Parent and Grown Child Team, YOU ARE INVITED to be a part of our Children’s Ministry.  It is about showing up, loving kids well and helping shape faith in the next generation. This is real Kingdom work, right here, right now, and honestly, we would love to do it with you. Children’s Ministry includes Sunday School, Toddler Care Room, Children’s Church and Youth Club.   More hands and hearts are really needed.  YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTNER WITH US IN WHAT GOD IS APREADY DOING!
