Shepherd is a non-denominational Christian church, affiliated with the Calvary Chapel Association. We place a high emphasis on teaching and preaching the Word of God.
Well, first, you can expect a warm welcome by our team of greeters. As you enter, someone will greet you inside and answer any questions you may have. You can expect a group of loving people to join you in service. You can expect a time of vibrant worship and an expositional message from the Bible every week.
We offer several parking areas on campus. If you are visiting, we have reserved front-row parking just for you. It is located in the parking lot directly in front of the main entrance. If you have physical assistance needs, we also offer a free valet-parking service at the main entrance. Just park in the circular driveway and ask one of the greeters inside for valet service. They will be happy to assist you.
Expository Bible teaching is a method of teaching the Bible whereby the pastor reads directly from the scripture and then explains and relates that message to our lives today. This is the most Biblical form of preaching. In the book of Nehemiah, Ezra does this very thing. Nehemiah writes, “They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.” (Nehemiah 8:8) This is, at its heart, the nature of expository Bible teaching; giving the meaning of the passage for all to understand and apply.
You are welcome to bring any version you like. The pastor usually teaches from the English Standard Version (ESV) and we offer ESV sanctuary Bibles as well.
We will accept any offering or tithe the Lord leads you to give. With that in mind, however, we are more interested in getting to know you. So, we would love it if you filled out the information section in the bulletin and present it to our information desk – they have a gift for you.
At 9:30 we offer Sunday school for all ages, child and adult. At each service (8:00. 9:30 and 11:00), we offer a children’s ministry program. The kids will begin the service with you in the sanctuary. At the end of our praise and worship they will be invited to the front for a children’s segment we call the “Good News Mystery Box.” Every week one child is selected to take home a box and place a mystery item inside. Using that item, one of our pastors will present a short message. Then, the children will be led by one of our staff leaders to their age-appropriate classroom. You are free to go with them to get them settled or, if you’d like to keep them with you in the sanctuary, that’s ok too.
“Discipleship Oasis” is the children’s ministries of Shepherd of the Hills. It includes Sunday school, children’s church, our care room, our Wednesday night Youth Club, Vacation Bible School, and other children’s events. You can learn more about Discipleship Oasis by clicking on the link in the menu at the top of the page.
Jesus was nursed and Mary wasn’t asked to leave, and neither will you. We fully support nursing mothers here at Shepherd. If you would like some privacy, however, we offer a well-furnished parlor complete with couches, chairs and tables, adjacent to our main sanctuary.
Our church’s Statement of Faith is available under the “What do we believe” section of the “About us” page.
Our church is open for regular business Monday – Thursday, from 9-4. If you have needs outside that time you may call the office and speak with our church secretary.
