Volunteer Background Screening
Per Federal and State laws, background checks are required for all volunteers who work with children and youth. To start the background check process, simply click the following link to submit your information: https://soth.churchcenter.com/people/forms/827271
You will also need to create an account on the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Portal (PA-CWP) to submit your PA Child Abuse clearances. We will provide you with a payment code to complete the clearance submission. Click here to go to the CWP website. For instructions on using the CWP, click here.
If you are unsure if your clearances are active, please contact the church office.
Please note we no longer accept copies of background checks from employers or other organization. You must submit your information using our background screening service.
*Shepherd of the Hills Church uses the third-party company Checkr for all screenings. Your information for background checks is secured using industry standard encryption. Shepherd of the Hills will not process any background check without your consent. You will be contacted by Checkr to provide consent in a follow-up email within 2 business days (Monday-Friday) of submitting the above form.
Process Overview
The process for background checks begins with submitting a request using the link above. This link collects your general contact information and address for our records, stored in our 3rd party database Planning Center. We will validate your request and submit an order for a background check with our screening service, Checkr. You will then receive an email from Checkr asking for consent to complete the background check.
PLEASE ENSURE TO ALLOW ALL EMAILS FROM Checkr (whitelist the domain name "checkr.com" and address "[email protected]"). The first email you will receive will have the subject line "Start your Shepherd of the Hills Calvary Chapel background check". This will collect your Social Security Number (or other identity verification information) as well as your authorization for consent to a background check. Failure to complete this portion of the background check will result in an Alert on your profile in our record system.
Once your consent is submitted to Checkr, you may receive additional instructions by email from the state to process the screening (P.A.T.C.H and the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Portal). When completing the forms for the state, please specify you are a volunteer working with minors. Please be sure to check your email junk folder and whitelist emails coming from the domain @checkr.com for instructions for completing the check.
If you have any questions during the process, please contact the church office at 610-754-6446.
